Unleashing your Business Potential with RFID, NFC and other Emerging Technologies

OVERVIEW
RFID is no longer an emerging technology: it has passed the tipping point and is here to stay. From proof-of-concept to pilot programs to full scale enterprise deployment, the world’s leading companies are now depending on RFID solutions. Although over 100 different applications areas have been identified, five key growth areas for RFID use have emerged.
• Asset Management;
• Inventory Management;
• Authenticity Management;
• Identity Management; and
• Process Management.

For each of these, measurement for Return-on- Investment (ROI) will be demonstrated in an interactive hands-on session incorporating technical usage and how your organisation can capitalise on RFID and other technologies. Bring home with you actionable insights to power the growth of your business.

THE BIG IDEA
RFID is not a one-size-fits-all solution: companies need to develop a business case and a strategy which assesses the impact of tagging requirements; the operational benefits, opportunities, and a sustainable ROI.

Key Learning Points
• How the convergence of various communication technologies: NFC, Sensors, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and 2G (cost effectiveness vs. 3G/4G) Wimax impact businesses
• Leveraging on the shift towards NFC & RFID enabled Smart phones and tablets and how it will  impact credit card, loyalty cards, parking pass, ID cards, etc
• Using technology for sustainability and a greener environment. The two greatest carbon polluters are cities and transportation. Learn how RFID is playing a critical role in minimising the carbon footprint.

The course takes the attendee through a series of modules designed to build technical competency and business awareness in preparation for starting or advancing their RFID initiative.

AM SESSION
We will begin with a brief look at the business needs, challenges and solutions that are driving the rapid adoption of RFID technology and the emerging business models. The class then immerses attendees in the scientific principles, latest RFID concepts, and system components for an end-to-end view of an RFID enabled system.
This complete perspective is further refined through class topics focused on the next wave of auto identification design concepts and solution components including near field communications (NFC), active tagging, sensors, wireless networks, real time location systems and the emerging technologies.

Topics:
• RFID technology overview & update
• RFID/communication convergence & unified communications with RFID
• Wireless convergence between GSM, RFID, GPS
• Mobile commerce and Cloud services
• Business update: Business justification for RFID requires creative and expanded approaches to traditional ROI analysis. Getting the RFID business case approved means delivering a very structured RFID business case analysis
• Best Practices: Strong lessons have been learned in RFID implementations. How do we achieve 100% read rate, how do we ensure RFID projects are delivered within budget and on time.
• Case Studies /ROI & business case analysis/implementing RFID/ demonstrations

PM SESSION
Building on the attendees updated technical and business know how, we will now focus on a variety of new capabilities and good practices that are valuable for planning and deploying the next generation of RFID enabled applications.

Topics:
• Challenges and benefits of the five key application areas: asset management; inventory management; authenticity management; identity management, process management.
• update on the three paradigm shifts
o converging communication technologies, M2M, and the internet of things
o  new wave of RFID and NFC enabled smart phone and tablet applications
o RFID for a greener environment
