Mr Sami Syed, Project Manager, London Underground

Sami Syed is a leader in Transport industry for Infrastructure renewals with an experience of over 25 years.  He is a Project Manager with Transport for London, Project managing Infrastructure track renewals on London Underground. Sami started his career in 1989 managing the Track Operations for Indian Railways working at Hyderabad in south India. He had the responsibility to mechanise the installation and maintenance of various Railway infrastructure elements of track, bridges and civils. After over a decade of successfully managing the Strategy for Rail Infrastructure maintenance with Indian Railways, he was seconded by Indian Railway Construction company to work for Network Rail in United Kingdom. Moving to London from Hyderabad in 2000’s, Sami was appointed Lead Design Engineer for Thameslink 2000.
As a  Civil engineer, Sami led the Design portfolio managing the technical aspects of various survey and design packages of Thameslink 2000.

In 2003, Sami further moved on to manage Infrastructure Track renewals for London Underground which is nicknamed ‘The Tube’ and is the world’s oldest underground railway.
Sami now Project manages the Track Partnership contract which is an Alliance between London Underground and Balfour Beatty Rail for Infrastructure renewals.

Sami is a qualified Civil Engineer graduated from Osmania University in India and is a Member of Association for Project Management, UK. 
Born in 1969, Sami Syed is married with two children.
