Henk Westerhof, Project and Contract Manager, RDW

Henk is a contract manager specialised in suppliers and the market of the (smart) cards, PKI implementations and documents personalisation. In previous years Henk was heavily involved in the development and implementation of the e-Vehicle Registration Card (eVRC) and the e-Driving licence (eDL) in the Netherlands: starting from the procurement processes of the card and its personalisation machinery through to chain integration and implementation of all products and services. Also he took actively part in the rollout of smart cards to Dutch municipal employees for authentication towards the RDW, the upgrade of the RDW PKI infrastructure and the implementation of several other (smart) card products which enable RDW’s services.  Recently he contracted and was engaged in the Dutch “e-ID on eDL” project, implementing and integrating an e-ID on all Dutch eDLs issued. Henk is currently active in getting documents to mobile devices (mDL, mVRC, etc), and contracting and supporting other innovative projects.

Driving Licences: The Road Ahead

This massive increase in smartphone penetration presents both problems and prospects for secure documents to be derived onto mobile devices and how these identities will then be used for different services from proving legibility to drive to accessing websites and e-services.
