Bas Van Den Berg, Head Of Driving Licenses, Netherlands Vehicle Authority (RDW)

Mr. Bas van den Berg is head of driving license department at RDW, the Netherlands Vehicle Authority. In this position he is responsible for day-to-day operations of this expertise center, giving out 1.8 million driving licenses a year while working on preventing driving license fraud and leading process innovation.

Besides this position, Mr. van den Berg is working on mobile driving license developments. He holds the position as secretary of EREG Topic Group XIX on virtual driving licenses and is a member of ISO WG 10 & TF 14, working on creating the international standard for mobile driving licenses (ISO 18013-5).

In past positions as project manager and consultant Mr. van den Berg has been heavily involved in the development of the Dutch vehicle registration card, creating RDW’s personalization environment, implementing the chip on the Dutch driving license and the implementation of the Dutch eID on the driving license card.
