Dr. Steve Mogere currently works for Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Kenya Office as the infrastructure and evaluation advisor. His area of expertise includes transport systems planning and management. He holds a doctorate in Informatics.
Before joining JICA, Steve worked in academia and UNESCO as a researcher and program manager respectively. He is an accomplished publisher with over 30 peer reviewed scientific papers and three books under his name mainly in health service management systems.
Dr. Steve is a founder board member of the Evaluation Society of Kenya (ESK) an affiliate of the Africa Evaluation Association (AfrEA) where he has continuously honed his skills as a development evaluation practitioner.
Over the last 10 years, Steve (representing JICA), and currently a chair to the National Roads/Transport Technical Working Group, coordinates all donor activities working in Infrastructure - Transport sector, Kenya. He is therefore very familiar with funding and financing mechanism to achieve sustainable infrastructure systems.
Steve received the International Collaboration Award from the prestigious Japanese Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE) in 2014.
Some of the major projects under Dr. Mogere‘s management include development of integrated master plans (Nairobi city, Mombasa city, Mombasa Port and Special Economic Zone – SEZ; Northern Economic Corridor - NEC). In addition, he as stewarded large scale infrastructure projects including:- modernization of Mombasa Port and surrounding cargo evacuation networks, urban transportation projects in Nairobi and Mombasa cities including the famous gate bridge in Mombasa, Kenya.
