Tadashi Shimura, Managing Director, New Kansai International Airport

Tadashi SHIMURA has been the Managing Director and Vice President of New Kansai International Airport Company, Ltd. in charge of Personnel, General Affairs and Corporate Strategy since June 2014.

Prior to his current position, he joined the former Ministry of Transport (now known as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) in 1981 where he served in such positions as the First Secretary at the Japanese Embassy in the People's Republic of China, Senior Air Talks Officer at the Civil Aviation Bureau, Assistant Vice Minister (International Affairs), and Senior Vice Commissioner at the Japan Tourism Agency.

He has a long, distinguished career in the fields of air and sea transport as the Director of International Air Transport Division in the Civil Aviation Bureau, and the General Manager of the Nippon Maritime Center Ltd. in Singapore.

Mr. Shimura graduated from University of Tokyo Faculty of Law in 1981. He was sent on a two-year overseas study program in the United States by the Ministry of Transport in 1986 and gained a Masters in Public Policy at Harvard University.
