Expliseat, a small French company which launched its short- to medium-haul super-lightweight Titanium Seat at last year’s Aircraft Interiors Expo, is quickly gaining purchase in the industry. Following the announcement in March that Expliseat had secured French carrier Air Méditerranée as its launch customer (see HERE), the company has major news: the Titanium Seat – claimed to be the lightest aircraft seat in the world – has gained EASA ETSO C39c approval.

After passing several tests and controls, the seat can now be ordered for use in A320s or B737s. The seat is constructed from 30 parts and weighs 4kg per pax place in its most basic short-haul version – including tray table, seat cover and armrest, but not safety belt or life vest.

“With this certification, the reliability of our seat has been confirmed, proving it can provide both safety and passenger comfort. The Titanium Seat is a substantial technical achievement, combining robustness and performance, and it breathes new life into the aircraft seat market”, said Benjamin Saada, CEO of Expliseat.
