Derek Chan has 16+ years in managing, leading, designing and implementing Web and Mobile business solutions. His current role is helping company to develop and execute the mobility strategy and program.
Derek has always enjoyed computing technology. In fact, by the time he was 10, he wrote his first gwbasic program and determined to be a computer engineer. After graduated from College in Computer Engineering in Hong Kong, he pursuit his graduate degree in Computer Sciences from University of Texas at Austin.
Throughout his 10-year tenure with Verizon Communication, Derek has tracked records on helping company in adopting the fast changing mobile technology starting windows mobile era to iOS and Android. Then he worked with a startup company to create its own mobile platform before landed at his current role in Alaska Airlines.
My favorite part of being the Enterprise Mobility Architect is the involvement in both business and technical aspects, because it allows me to help others to innovate and transform how to conduct business fundamentally.
When I'm not working in front of computer, I am an active rower, triathlete, marathon runner and enjoying any kind of outdoor activities.
