Mr. Mukul Jain is a fulltime member of the Board of Directors of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), since June, 2010 and also a director of High Speed Rail Corporation of India Ltd. (HSRC), its subsidiary. RVNL is a Public Sector Undertaking of Government of India with an annual turnover of nearly US $ 1 billion.
He is a B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering from I.I.T. Delhi, Bachelor of Law from Gujarat University and a Master of Engineering in Logistics & Supply Chain Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston.
Mr. Jain had joined Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) in 1981. He has worked in various capacities in operating, planning and commercial departments of Indian Railways. He joined Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR) in Mumbai as the Head of Western Region in Mumbai, rising up to become their Executive Director (Planning) in their Corporate Office in Delhi.
As a director in HSRC, he was coordinating the study of Ahmedabad – Mumbai HSR Corridor being conducted by JICA on behalf of Indian Railways and Government of Japan. He has also been an advisor to various expert sub-groups on finalization of alignment and locations of railway stations of HSR Corridor.
He specializes in strategic planning of large railway projects, including their financing, conducting feasibility studies and detailed project reports. He has specialized knowledge on multi-modal transportation, strategy for development of Supply Chain Management, PPP and railway operations. He is widely travelled and has attended a number of events all over the world
He enjoys photography, delivering motivational lectures trekking in high mountains and playing classical music on flute.
