Mr. Morris Cheung
President of MTR Academy
Mr. Morris Cheung has been working with MTR for over 30 years. He is an engineer by background. He started his career as a graduate trainee and took up various senior positions involving railway operations and maintenance and construction of new extension projects.
Morris spent 2 years as the Managing Director of the cable car subsidiary company of MTR before he took up the Chief of Operations position of MTR in 2009. Morris was responsible for the operations of all transport business of MTR in Hong Kong including metro network, cross-boundary and intercity services, light rail and feeder buses. Morris then became the Chief of Operations Engineering overseeing all maintenance and technical functions for railway assets.
In 2012, Morris was appointed as the Human Resources Director. In June 2015, Morris took up the position of European Business Director responsible for the business of MTR in Europe and the Middle East.
To support Hong Kong’s role in the national Belt and Road Initiative, MTR has set up the MTR Academy to develop highly-competent transport professionals locally and in the One Belt One Road countries. This Academy will also become a research and development institute of rail engineering and practices. Morris was appointed as the President of MTR Academy, with effect from July 2016, to spearhead and oversee the development of the Academy.
Morris is also the Chairman of the UITP Asia Pacific Region.
