Kaebin Tan is a Cyber Security practitioner with 8 years experience in the IT Security industry. He received his Master of Information Technology and Management with a focus on Network Security from Illinois Institute of Technology. He was also received his Electrical Engineering Degree from Illinois Institute of Technology.
Kaebin started off as a security analyst for Academia Sinica Computing Center in Taiwan. His role includes conducting vulnerability assessment for thousands of servers and terminals and applications, providing recommendations, and Cyber Security awareness training for the 33 institutes and research centers within Academia Sinica. He is also tasked to setup the Security Operation Center (SOC) for the institution as part of enhancing the security posture and the ability to respond to security incidents.
He then moved on to work for Quantiq International, a Singapore-based IT Security distribution company. Over the years, his roles include presales engineer, solution architect and Technical Manager. He has helped designed and implemented security solutions for various government agencies, government-linked companies, local and offshore financial institutions, hospitals and institute of higher learning (IHLs).
Currently he is working on Cyber Security for Industrial Control Systems (ICS), namely Railway systems, such as MRT and High Speed Rail. He is tasked to bridge the gap between Information Technology (IT) and Operations Technology (OT). This is important as the world is moving into Internet of Things (IOT) and the Smart Anything, which is the convergence of IT and OT. The Cyber Security for IOT is also known as Cyber Physical Security, which is the latest trend in the security industry, and a threat which the security industry is starting to observe.
He is well versed in the Cyber Security landscape, experienced in identifying the upcoming threats and apply relevant remediation. He is also a certified ISO 27001 Lead Auditor.
