Hermanto Dwiatmoko, Chairman, Indonesian Railway Society (MASKA)

Ir. Hermanto Dwiatmoko is currently the Chief of Indonesia Railway Society and a lecturer at Mercu Buana University Jakarta.

After graduating from Bandung Institute of Technology where he was studying Mechanical Engineering in 1980, he started his career in 1981 at Indonesian Railway Company, Perusahaan Jawatan Kereta Api (now PT. Kereta Api Indonesia), at the Directorate of Traction and Material. In 1987, Ministry of Transportation needed an expert in railway, therefore he was asked to work at the Ministry’s Planning Bureau.

From 1987 to 2005, he was appointed to manage planning in transportation, especially in evaluation and reporting in the Planning Bureau of Ministry of Transportation.

Since Directorate General of Railways was established in 2005, he was promoted and became Director of Railway Infrastructure until 2009, and then worked as Director of Railway Safety and Rolling Stock until December 2010. After Directorate of Railway Safety and Rolling Stock was divided into Directorate of Railway Safety and Directorate of Rolling Stock, he was appointed the Director of Railway Safety until 2014. He was appointed as the Director General of Railways in February 2014 and held that position till May 2016. With his extensive experience in the rail industry, he currently serves as the Chairman of Indonesia Railway Society.
