Ashwani Kumar, Chief Engineer - Track, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd

Ashwani graduated in B.E. (Civil Engineering) in 1st Class with Distinction in 1988 from Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College, Allahabad, India and joined 1989 batch of Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE). In my professional career of over 27 years with Indian Railways and DMRC, he has been posted in three Zonal Railways i.e. North Eastern Railways, RDSO, Metro Railway Kolkata and DMRC. He ensured Completion of more than 550 Kms of Gauge conversion from Metre Gauge to Broad Gauge track in Indian Railways and Completed more than 140 track Kms of ballastless track installation. He was awarded with Railway Minister’s appreciation letter for Gauge conversion project and was awarded Director General’s Award in 2008-09. In DMRC, He is responsible for Planning & Contract Management for execution of Track work on Viaduct/Under Ground sections of DMRC Phase-III projects for about 91 route kilometres involving procurement of HH rails from outside India, procurement of non-HH rails, Turnouts, Fastenings, etc. He is also responsible for civil work in about 6.5 km underground section between Bhikaji Cama Place Station and Lajpat Nagar Station of newly coming Pink Line of DMRC Phase III work. He published technical papers on Degradation of Fastening System with different Axle Loads and Ballastless Track – An Overview and Development in India.
