Murray Brissett, Senior Training Developer, Kellogg Brown & Root

Murray has been in the L&D field for over 20 years, starting as a staff instructor in the Australian Army. During his military service, he trained many soldiers and developed training outcomes, which provided Army with preparedness at individual and collective levels.

Post Army, he was the Head of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority’s National Search and Rescue School, where he managed the Search and Rescue Training Continuum and designed training solutions to ensure ongoing operational capability within the search and rescue organisation. In 2016, he became Senior Training Developer for KBR Modelling, Simulation and Training in Canberra, where he still addresses operational capability outcomes, but from a more of a consultancy perspective. As has been alluded to, he specialises in operational capability development.

He lives in Canberra and holds a Master in Adult Education and Bachelor of Training Development.

Day 2 @ 11:20

How the Army taught me to be a better Training Developer

Murray has been a civilian twice: the first time was for 19 years, the second is still a work in progress. 20 years in the army taught him lessons that have set him up to continue with his second stint as a civilian by providing a unique outlook on life and work. He maintains this outlook and applies these lessons daily. This presentation contextualises his army service with subsequent civilian L&D projects.
