Justine La Roche, Director, Spring Point

Fascinated by how people learn and excel at work, Justine draws on her experience as a psychologist, management consultant and business leader to design solutions that promote both individual growth and organisational performance. Having partnered with the majority of the ASX Top 50 throughout her career, Justine combines broad industry exposure and awareness of current business challenges with her own general management experience as Director of Spring Point. Specialising in learning and leadership, Justine’s areas of expertise include people strategy, leadership development, talent management and blended learning design, informed by Masters degrees in both Organisational Psychology and Applied Positive Psychology. In recent years Justine’s learning & development programs have achieved industry recognition from the Australian Institute of Training & Development and Australian HR Awards for clients such as Australia Post, Vicinity Centres, and Bakers Delight.

Demonstrating the impact of learning

Demonstrating the business impact of learning is the Holy Grail for many L&D practitioners. Yet it is also elusive, with organisational decision makers continuing to pigeonhole training as a catchall for a variety of performance problems and evaluation commonly deprioritised due to time, resource or cost pressures. These factors combine such that evaluation is either problematic from the onset, treated as an afterthought, or not pursued at all. While demonstrating impact can be difficult, it is nevertheless critical if L&D practitioners are to earn and keep their ‘seat at the table’. Drawing on a broad range of case studies, this presentation will highlight how answering three essential questions will enable you to develop a learning evaluation strategy capable of showcasing real impact.
