Peter Thomas is the Chief Commercial Officer for GE Transportation’s Digital Solutions
business. Peter and his team are charged with developing a winning commercial
strategy and driving customer focused, outcome oriented commercialization efforts for
GE Transportation’s RailConnect360 suite of software & analytics solutions.
In his previous role, Peter was the General Manager for GE Transportation’s
Optimization Solutions business and President of RMI. In this role he was responsible
for the leading the growth of GE Transportation’s software and analytics business, part
of GE’s overall initiative to rapidly expand its portfolio of software, analytics, and
software enable services.
Peter joined GE Transportation in 2004 as the Marketing Leader for Global Signaling in
Grain Valley, MO. In 2005 he was promoted to the role of International Sales Leader for
Global Signaling and Global Rail Operations and was based in Florence, Italy. He
subsequently served as General Manager of Sales for the Middle East /Africa region and
was based in Dubai, UAE before being named Chief Marketing Officer in 2009.
As Chief Marketing Officer, Peter was responsible for driving key business strategic
processes and initiatives. One of which resulted in the formation of Optimization
Solutions and the subsequent acquisition of rail software and solutions leader, RMI.
Prior to joining GE Transportation, Peter spent 8 years with the GE Fanuc Automation
business where he held positions of increasing responsibility in sales, marketing, and
Peter is a certified Six Sigma Master Blackbelt and holds both a Bachelor of Science
in Marketing and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Alabama
