Gaurav Agarwal is an Indian Civil Servant in Ministry of Railways with over 27 years of experience. He has worked in the domains of manufacturing of trains, operations & maintenance of rolling stock, global procurement of machines and execution of multi-disciplinary turnkey projects. He is a Mechanical Engineer by academia and is also a ‘Chevening Gurukul Scholar’ from Kings College, London. Further, he has 2 Masters degrees from foreign universities: ‘Masters in Public Administration’ (MPA) from ‘Lee kuan Yew School of Public Policy’ at ‘National University of Singapore’ (NUS) and M Sc in Public Administration at Kings College, London. Furthermore, he is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers, India and Engineering Council, London.          During his professional role in Indian Railways, he has worked in Eastern Railways, Rail Coach Factory at Kapurthala, Railway Board, RITES Ltd and COFMOW in different capacities and positions. He was the team leader of project of manufacturing and delivering first ever state of the art export coaches from India. He successfully developed a frugal innovative arrangement in rail-road locomotives called ‘Anti Climbing Device’ which resolved a long pending safety concern to prevent passengers climbing the footboard of the locomotives. He is also a recipient of the National Professional Excellence award by the Railway Minister.         Further, he has written books on contemporary issues like ‘High Speed Rail Technology’ and ‘Operations and maintenance of Rail Diesel Locomotive’. He is a regular speaker and has spoken on various contemporary railway related topics in international conferences held at Hongkong, London, Belgium, Johannesburg, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bangkok etc.
