Ahmad is the Chief Audit Executive for GEMS Education.
Ahmad heads our Internal Audit department, which provides independent objective assurance to the Audit Committee on the internal control environment in terms of design and effectiveness across the group. In addition, he works on consulting services designed to identify efficiencies and streamline organizational activities.
With over 18 years of experience in Internal and External Audit, Enterprise Risk Management, and Business Consulting in various fields and countries, Ahmad was previously a Deputy Director of Internal Audit at Tourism Development and Investment Company in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Prior to that he was an external auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Arthur Andersen in their offices in the UAE, USA and Canada.
Throughout his career, Ahmad has conducted Operational, IT, HSE and Financial audits, Restructuring and Management, Corporate Governance reviews, and audits of financial statements prepared in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and US GAAP in both private and public (including SEC clients).
Ahmad is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from California, a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). Ahmad has completed a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the American University of Beirut.
