Stefano Menegatti, Assistant Professor in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, North Carolina State University

I have completed my Ph.D. at NC State University in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Ruben G. Carbonell. My doctoral work focused on the development of peptide-based affinity ligands for the purification of biotherapeutics and the design of in vivo and in vitro diagnostics. As a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California Santa Barbara, I am working under the supervision of Prof. Samir Mitragotri on developing novel strategies for targeted drug delivery, such (i) nanoparticle platelet mimetics, (ii) targeted delivery of multi-drug combinations with synergistic anticancer activity, and (iii) transdermal delivery with skin-penetrating peptides. The activity of my research group will focus on the design of peptide and peptidomimetic ligands to develop adsorbents for protein purification, bioanalytical probes, and nanoscale systems for targeted drug delivery.
