During his career at the NIH, he organized and directed the HIVNET and HPTN clinical trial networks for evaluating HIV vaccines and other preventive interventions for HIV/AIDS. For the past 5 years, he has led the Comprehensive International Program of Research on AIDS (CIPRA), which provides longterm research and infrastructure support to research organizations in developing countries to enhance their capabilities and capacity to conduct HIV/AIDS research relevant to their populations. In addition to AIDS, Dr. Hoff has conducted research on Chagas' disease, schistosomiasis, Leishmaniasis, toxoplasmosis, malaria and other emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases. |
