Terry Moore, Founder and Managing Partner, Moore Venture Partners, LP

Mr. Moore has over 20 years of experience investing, founding, leading, directing, and advising companies. As a Sr. Materials Scientist & Engineer, he developed Spacecraft Thermal Barrier Control Coatings used on satellites to conduct the waste heat away from the electronics for General Atomics.  He has had CEO experience, and has served on the Board of Directors of numerous companies in various stages of development and operation.  Mr. Moore is the founder and Managing Partner of the MVP VC Funds™, L.P. (www.moorevp.com) in San Diego, California investing in the next most successful tech and life science companies at the early, growth, and expansion stages.  Mr. Moore is the Chairman of The VC Roundtable (@thevcroundtable) of Southern California, a private, invitation-only, monthly investor and entrepreneur networking organization that he founded in 2002.  Mr. Moore is also the founder/Chairman of the Annual VC Regatta.  Mr. Moore may also be seen on the CNBC show “Make Me A Millionaire Inventor.”

Mr. Moore has an outstanding track record and some of his investments include Edico Genome a gene sequencing on semi-conductor chipset company selected as a Top 10 Innovation in 2014 by The Scientist Magazine located in San Diego;  a specialty pharmaceutical company called Savara Pharmaceuticals developing innovative pulmonary drugs for treating MRSA lung infections growing at over 30% annually; the cloud-based hotel exchange platform company for web enabling emerging market hotel properties called Cloudbeds (Selected by CONNECT as a winner of the MIP Award in December 2014) with the Gaylord Resorts International investors from Nashville;  the first “live” TV over cell phone provider named MobiTV;  a mobile electronic (cell phone, tablet) e-recycler called ecoATM that was sold to Outerwall (Nasdaq: OUTR) formerly Coinstar for $350M in Cash resulting in a 4X return in less than 18 months; a diagnostic company located in La Jolla called Astute Medical developing protein-based biomarkers for diagnosing life-threatening conditions that was selected by the Wall Street Journal as a top 10 healthcare company in November of 2012;  the world's leading quantum cascade (mid-IR spectrum) laser company called Daylight Solutions;  a manufacturing automation software company called Incuity that was sold to Rockwell for a 108% IRR, a 3.8X return in 20 months;  a SaaS based events/membership company founded by the co-founder of a $1.5B company named Active.com called events.com;  a cloud-based restaurant loyalty reward company with a leading card-linked offer platform called EMPYR/MOGL;   Take Lessons - an e-commerce site for identifying qualified music instructors and school tutors - with LightBank (Groupon guys) out of Chicago and CrossLink.

Mr. Moore founded and is the former Executive Director of the top-tier global law firm Morrison & Foerster’s Venture Network.  Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Mr. Moore was a Managing Director at HamiltonTech Capital Partners, a tech and med-tech fund in SoCal.  Mr. Moore has a M.B.A. in Venture Management and Marketing from the University of San Diego, a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Florida, and successfully completed a year-long post-graduate Entrepreneurship Program at CONNECT in San Diego.
