Shahrzad Yavari, Program Director, Nexleaf Analytics

Shahrzad is Program Director for ColdTrace at Nexleaf Analytics. She oversees the implementation and operations of cold chain monitoring technologies currently active in 10 countries across Asia and Africa to monitor and protect the supply chains for vaccines and agriculture. Her main focus is on the impact of cold chain monitoring technologies, carefully considering feedback from end users, and ensuring that data and analytics serve the needs of low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Shahrzad holds a MPH in Community Health Sciences with an emphasis on Global Health from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She received her B.S. in Public Health Sciences and B.A. in Psychology and Social Behavior from the University of California, Irvine. Her background in psychology and public health enables her to integrate the elements of behavior change and capacity building to create data-driven and responsive interventions.

DC Co-conference Day 2 April 4 @ 3:10

Innovations in cold chain equipment – preventing freezing in the vaccine cold chain using wireless remote temperature monitoring

  • Many newer, more expensive vaccines are freeze / heat sensitive – so monitoring and maintenance of cold chain equipment is critical.
  • High-income as well as low- and middle-income countries suffer when cold chain equipment fails and tempertatures damage or destroy vaccines.
  • Real-time temperature monitoring allows for quick detection of problems, rapid response to save vaccines, intelligent maintenance, and more.
  • At a high level, the data collected enables evidence-based budgeting, procurement, equipment placement, and effective planning.
