Marta Tomasi has a post-doc position in Public law at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. In march 2012 she received her PhD in Comparative and European Legal Studies at Faculty of Law (University of Trento), defending a thesis in Comparative constitutional law titled "Human Genetics and Rights' Protection: the Relational Dimension of Individual Autonomy".
During her academic studies she spent a period as a Visiting Scholar at the Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco and The King’s College in London.
She cooperates with the Biolaw Project of the Faculty of Law in Trento and with the European Center for Law, Science and New Technologies of the University of Pavia. She contributed to several national and European projects, she is involved in teaching activities at the University of Trento, at the University of Pavia and at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, and she is the author and co-author of several scientific papers.
She's in charge, together with some colleagues, of the update and implementation of the website www.biodiritto.org and she acts as associate editor of the BioLaw Journal - Rivista di BioDiritto.
