Emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases are a risk to human and animal health. Globalization has facilitated the movement of people, goods, and animals leaving no country isolated from the threat of infectious disease. Additionally, most emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases are zoonotic, meaning they can be transmitted from animals to humans.

To combat these threats, the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization - International Vaccine Centre (VIDO-InterVac) has positioned itself to mitigate infectious diseases through research and development. We are home to some of the world’s most advanced containment level 2 and 3 vaccine research facilities. And our vast experience in animal health makes us a leader in the study of zoonotic pathogens.

Our state-of-the-art facility allows VIDO-InterVac’s multidisciplinary research team to study all aspects of infectious disease with the ultimate goal of developing vaccines and anti-infective compounds to alleviate disease caused by emerging and re-emerging pathogens.
