Janette Rawlinson, Governance Board Member, Stratified Medicine Programme, Cancer Research UK

Janette was appointed to the board of CRUK’s Stratified Medicine Programme in January 2015. Appointed as a consumer member of NCRI's Clinical Studies Group (lung) since October 2013, she was involved in fundraising for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation and patient literature reviewer for RCLCF, CRUK and Macmillan prior to this. A passionate patient advocate, she is keen to contribute her experience to improve understanding of patients’ needs, service design and practice and patient outcomes. An independent consultant by profession, she works across sectors with a varied client portfolio, combining her experience and background in business, people and business development in her board and committee work bringing both operational and strategic perspectives. She chairs the West Midlands Women as Leaders group for the Institute of Directors' Midlands Branch.
An experienced NHS Non-Executive Director since 2006, currently a Lay Member on Sandwell and West Birmingham  Clinical Commissioning Group – (HSJ CCG of the Year 2015, 2013 and  finalists 2016, Commissioning Today ‘Commissioners of the Year 2014’ and NHS Midlands Leadership awards 2015). She is Vice Chair of its Primary Care Co-­-commissioning Committee and serves on audit, finance and performance, governing body, cancer steering group and co-chairs the Personalised Healthcare Budget committee. Appointed to the NIHR Health Services Delivery Research commissioned board in 2014, Public Health England’s NCRAS Clinical Reference Group (lung) 2015 and British Thoracic Oncology Group Steering committee in 2017.  A member of the European Lung Federation Lung Cancer Patient Advisory Group since May 2015 she was appointed to NHSE Clinical Expert Group (Lung cancer) in March 2017.
