Dr. Corey Goodman | Managing Director venBio
Dr. Corey Goodman is a Founding Partner of venBio – a new life sciences strategic capital company working with Amgen, Baxter, and PPD. With a B.S. from Stanford University and Ph.D. from U.C. Berkeley, he spent 25 years as a biology professor at Stanford and Evan Rauch Chair of neurobiology at U.C. Berkeley, where he was Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator and co-founder of the Wills Neuroscience Institute. He is an adjunct professor at U.C. San Francisco. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences, American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and American Philosophical Society, and recipient of many honors including the Alan T. Waterman Award, Canada Gairdner Award, and March-of-Dimes Prize. Dr. Goodman co-founded Exelixis, Renovis and Second Genome, and led Renovis as CEO from private to public until its acquisition. In 2007, he was recruited as President and founder of Pfizer’s Biotherapeutics and Bioinnovation Center, and a member of Pfizer’s Executive Leadership Team. He is Chair of the Board of five biotech companies, Board member of two others, and advises others. Amongst his public service, he is on the Board of the California Council on Science and Technology, Pacific Institute, Bay Area Science and Innovation Consortium, QB3 Advisory Board, and several medical foundations, and is former Chair of the National Research Council's Board on Life Sciences. He is on the Editorial Board of Science Translational Medicine.
