Illingworth Research

Illingworth Research and its subsidiary differentiates itself from other contract research organisations as it offers two niche services. These are, research nurses for patient homecare and medical photography.
The provision of experience Research Nurses to conduct study visits in the patient’s home is hugely attractive, especially in the area of orphan indications. There are many procedures which can be performed within the patients’ homes and we have found that this is an excellent way to enhance patient recruitment and retention, maintain compliance and build an optimum relationship with study subjects. These include administration of study drug which may be intramuscular, via an intravenous infusion or oral etc. Research nurses also undertake dry ice shipments, complete CRF or e-CRFs, ECGs, completion of questionnaires, monitoring such as cough monitoring and spirometry to name but a few. We have a number of studies which have found this an ideal method to minimise trips to the hospital and/or clinic for the subjects, whilst maintaining the high level of involvement usually required as part of a clinic trial. In order to support our team working in this way, we have an infrastructure in place to provide assistance as required, including remote technical support. For sites who do not wish to take up home research nursing, we provide a patient concierge service, supporting patient’s travel arrangements and reimbursement of expenses. also provide research nurses to work at the sites, assisting the Principal Investigator with patient identification, study procedures and data collection.
The other niche service is Medical Photography. In some studies a photographic image may be one of the study endpoints and the challenge is to standardise the images from site to site. Our system is compatible with EDC, is fully 21CFR Part 11-compliant and is not only useful for photographic study endpoints, but also for marketing purposes where photography can demonstrate the benefits of a product.
