Michael Rodyniuk, President & Chief Executive Officer, Wasaya Airways LP

Michael Rodyniuk is President and Chief Executive Officer of Wasaya Partnership Limited (WPL) a company owned 100% by 12 First Nations. WPL is made up of three primary businesses, Wasaya Airways LP and Wasaya Petroleum LP and Wasaya Leasing LP, all serving First Nation communities in Northwestern Ontario.  Michael is President and CEO of all Wasaya companies, where he leads a team restructuring the companies. 
 
Michael is a seasoned aviation executive with over 25 years of management experience spanning the
globe. His leadership experience includes serving at legacy airlines (Air Canada, American Airlines,
Swissair, United Airlines), low cost (WestJet, ZIP), and regional airlines (Exchange Income Corporation
(EIC), Hawaii Island Air, Wasaya Airways) and contributed to start-up airlines (Volaris, ZIP). He has been active in acquisitions, alliances, green field start-ups, corporate restructuring and airport development.
 
Michael started his aviation management career in 1991 with American Airlines where he was included in the company’s Career Development Program, successfully moving through various management positions with increasing responsibility.  In 1994 Michael joined United Airlines progressing to Manager, Industry Marketing and Alliances where he was involved in developing and implementing Star Alliance.  He has contributed as an aviation executive, commencing in 1999 being appointed to Swissair’s SR Technics as Vice President overseeing business alliances, mergers, acquisitions and development.  In 2002, Michael was recruited to assist with the development of Air Canada’s low cost airline, ZIP as Vice President responsible for Sales, Marketing and Distribution.  In 2004 he became Director of Revenue for WestJet, overseeing the overhaul of the company’s Inventory and Revenue Management system, optimizing revenue.  From 2005-10 Michael worked with the Winnipeg Airports Authority as Chief Operating Officer, overseeing operations and redeveloping the airport campus. In 2010-2012, Michael served as Chief Operating Officer for EIC's aviation group of companies where he led multiple airline businesses in Canada's North serving First Nation and Inuit Communities. In 2012, as Executive Vice Chairman, he led the Hawaii Island Air team, restructuring the airline and selling the company to Oracle founder, Larry Ellison. In 2013 he negotiated a successful joint venture between Willis Lease Finance Corporation (WLFC) and the Chinese Central Government agency, China Aviation Supply Corporation (CASC) having been active in Asia business since the 1990s. Further in 2014 he led the initiative to acquire of certain assets of JTPower by WLFC to create Willis Aeronautical Services Inc., where he was a founding member of the Board of Directors.
 
Michael is a member of the Board of Directors of West Canitest R&D Inc. (WestCaRD), an initiative of the General Electric Company, the Government of Canada and Standard Aero focused on research and development of aviation turbine engines. He is Chairman of the Finance Committee of WestCaRD. 
 
Michael holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Manitoba and accredited by two United Nations agencies; Airports Council International (ACI) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), as an International Airport Professional (IAP).
