Born in Yala Province, southernmost Thailand. He received a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Kasetsart University, Thailand in 1996. Then, he started his career at the Regional Livestock Office in Suratthani Province, southern Thailand and practiced as a field veterinarian. In 1998-1999, he joined the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Young Professional Programme where he had a chance to work on the Global Rinderpest Eradication Programme in Sri Lanka and India. In 2000, he worked at the Office of Director General (Chief Veterinary Officer), Department of Livestock Development, Bangkok, Thailand. In January-July 2001, he was awarded to participate in the international training course on Globalization of Trade and International Quality Standard in Infectious Disease Control at the German Foundation for International Development (DSE) and Freie Universiteit für Berlin, Germany. During 2002-2003, he worked at the Office of Agricultural Affairs to the European Union, Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels, Belgium being responsible for the international trade and food safety related to SPS agreement and veterinary issues. In September 2003, he was granted scholarships from the World Bank (JJ/WBGSP scholarship programme) and the Royal Thai Government to do his postgraduate studies at Utrecht University. In 2005, he completed his master degree (M.Sc.) on Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics. Following he obtained his PhD degree at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht University. His Ph.D. research project focused on “Epidemiology and Control of Avian Influenza Virus in Thailand”. Since 2008, he has worked as an international consultant on disease surveillance and livestock emergency response for FAO in North Korea, Myanmar, and Nepal. In addition, he has contributed as author and reviewer for scientific journals (i.e. Emerging Infectious Diseases, Journal of Infectious Diseases, Public Health Reports, Avian Diseases, Vaccine, BMC Infectious Diseases, Virology Journal, International Journal of Infectious Diseases, PLoS ONE, and etc.). Currently, he works at Division of Livestock Foreign Affairs Department of Livestock Development, Thailand and he is also providing services as Regional Project Coordinator on Smallholder Dairy Development Programme in Bangladesh, Myanmar and Thailand funded by CFC and FAO. Outside of work, his main interests are family, gardening, swimming, running, climbing, hiking, salsa dance, cycling, tennis, golf, yoga, art modeling, travelling, and outdoor activities. |
