Patrick Kidney, Partner, Analysys Mason

Pat has overall responsibility for Analysys Mason’s business in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. He is an experienced telecoms adviser who has worked extensively in the design, implementation and project management of fixed, wireless and sub-sea telecoms systems. Working for major government departments and public- and private-sector organisations around the world, he has advised on ICT strategy, business planning, procurement, programme management, and network design and roll-out. He has worked with banks, funders and financial institutions to undertake commercial and technical due diligence of telecoms assets (including fibre networks, towers portfolios and broadcast networks, as well as fixed and mobile operators).  Pat was engaged by the UK and Irish governments as technical consultant during the deployment of the submarine and terrestrial elements of Project Kelvin. He has also led commercial and technical due diligence of a number of submarine cable systems, including recent developments in the Atlantic, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. In addition, Pat has taken part in projects to determine the likely pricing and impact of regional submarine cables (SEACOM, EASSy and WACS), and carried out feasibility studies into the provision of new international submarine cables. Prior to joining Analysys Mason, Pat spent 12 years in the Irish Defence Forces as a telecoms engineer and project manager. He is a Chartered Engineer, a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), a Chartered Director with the Institute of Directors (IoD), and also a past Chairman of the IET Ireland network.
