Simon Chung, Principal Systems Performance Engineering Manager, London Underground Limited

Simon is a Chartered Engineer, Chartered IT Professional and a recognised technical authority in railway systems performance engineering.  He is currently the Head of Profession for Systems Performance Engineering in London Underground where he leads a world-class modelling and simulation capability, responsible for the optimal railway solution to support the growing capacity of the London Underground network. 
 
Simon started his career as a technician engineer in the rolling stock engineering department within London Underground some 25 years ago, where he worked on dynamic testing and mathematically modelling of traction and braking equipment. Since then he has held a number of key roles in asset management, operational service management, signal and electrical maintenance management, train systems engineering and technology innovation; these include the Signal & Electrical Works Manager for the London Underground Northern line, the Service Manager for the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly Line and the Head of Network Performance for infrastructure company Metronet Rail.
 
Simon has a proven track record in creating and building new capabilities to drive systems engineering excellence, technology innovation, cross-industry collaboration and international consultancy. He is passionate about nurturing and developing teams from grass-root level and creating the respective environment for sustained growth.
