Gus McCloy joined Virgin Trains in February 2013 as Revenue Manager and has spent much of 2014 as the Acting Director of Revenue Management. Virgin Trains manages the franchise for the West Coast Mainline in the United Kingdom. This line connects London to Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow and Virgin Trains carries 31 million passengers a year. Virgin Trains was the first rail company in the United Kingdom to introduce Advance Fares and online retailing and continues to be at the forefront of innovation in the industry. Gus is responsible for the development and implementation of Pricing and Yield strategies as well as managing projects to overhaul the fares ladders, developing a new approach to setting a commercial strategy and significant expansion of the groups and inbound business. Prior to joining Virgin Trains, Gus spent ten years at British Airways in a number of roles including Commercial Manager for Nigeria and Market Development Manager for Asia-Pacific, Middle East, South Asia and Africa. Previously, he developed his Revenue Management expertise at Air New Zealand. He has an Honours Degree in Geopolitics and a Marketing Degree from the University of Otago.
