Mr Juan Nicolás Rhoads | Senior Vice President - Commercial Planning AeroMexico
Mr Rhoads earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University majoring in Economics and Latin American Studies and his Global MBA from Thunderbyrd University and the ITESM (Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey).
Nicolás Rhoads was born in Mexico City, and has occupied several positions within Aeroméxico in the past eighteen years.
Between 1993 and 1995 he worked in an internship program in the New York City Sales Office and in JFK’s operations office. Here he led several projects, including the strategy to sell to the VFR (Visiting Friends and Family) market and the implementation of Aeromexico Vacations together with Friendly Holidays in the Northeast. At the JFK airport he was involved in the operation of the airline which received two widebody aircraft daily. He participated in customer service, check – in counters and boarding zones.
Between 1995 and 1996 he held the position Revenue Management Analyst in Mexico City’s headquarters, being responsible of the Dallas and New York City flights.
Between 1996 and 1999 he held several positions ranging from Manager Route Planning to Director Planning International Markets. Here he coordinated and implemented the profitable expansion of Aeromexico in the South American Market.
In the year 2000 he helped develop Aeroméxico’s involvement in the creation of SkyTeam, together with Air France and Delta.
In the past four years he held several strategic positions (V.P. Corporate Planning, Chief of Staff to the President & Chief Risk Officer) to help develop and implement Aeroméxico’s medium and long term strategy. Today he leads the Commercial Planning team, responsible of Network Planning, Scheduling, Alliances and Crew Planning. His major accomplishments during the past 5 years in this position are the profitable development of the Mexico City hub with the arrival of AMConnect at this airport, the am/pm pattern of service in all Aeromexico serviced flights in the business market, the opening of Asia, Buenos Aires, Bogotá, Costa Rica, Havana, Honduras, Barcelona, between other important international hub markets. He also helped develop Aeroméxico’s Geo focused Network. In the crew planning area he has been able to increase productivity significantly by improving the area’s relationship with unions, implementing top I.T. systems.
Today Mr. Rhoads lives in Mexico with his wife Ana Paula and his three kids.
