Dr Laurent Poirot | Head of Early Discovery

Dr Laurent Poirot, Head of Early Discovery, Cellectis

Laurent Poirot is an immunologist with over 13 years of experience in biotech.
In graduate school, he studied immunology in the laboratory of Diane MATHIS and Christophe BENOIST (Université de Strasbourg, France and Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA). His PhD thesis focused on the pathogenic mechanisms of autoimmune diabetes.
In 2004, he joined the Genomics Institute of the Novartis research foundation (GNF, San Diego, CA) as a postdoctoral fellow where he performed high-throughput genetic/genomic studies in immune cells (cDNA/siRNA screens, mouse mutagenesis, microarray databases).
In 2009, he joined Cellectis (Paris, France) where he first studied gene therapy approaches in hematopoietic stem cells and developed gene editing tools for CAR T cells. In 2013, he became Head of Early Discovery and is in charge of developing innovative tools to improve immunotherapies based on gene-edited CAR T cells. He splits his activities between Paris and New-York.

DC Co-conference Day 3 April 5 @ 09:10

Panel: Engineering CAR-T & TCR cells for cancer therapy

  • How can you additionally modify T-cells beyond the T cell receptor/ the CAR to behave in a more controlled and/or potent fashion?
  • The challenge of keeping the manufacturing process simple, whilst maintaining the effectiveness of the product
  • The use of molecular imaging to track CAR T cells: Where do they go in the body? Do they accumulate in the tumor?
  • Mitigating side effects: controlling neurotoxicity etc.
  • Biomarkers – Identifying patients that will respond to treatment
  • Combination strategies
