Christian Ohmann performed his university examination (1976) and graduation in mathematics together with an interim examination in medicine (1984). This was followed by a habilitation in Theoretical Surgery in 1997 and a professorship in 1993 at the Heinrich-Heine-University in Düsseldorf. Professional activities started with a position at the Institute of Theoretical Surgery at the Phillips University, Marburg/Lahn between 1978 and 1987. This was followed by a chair of the Unit of Theoretical Surgery at the Clinic of General and Trauma Surgery at the Heinrich-Heine-University, Düsseldorf (1987 – 2003). From 1999 to 2014 C. Ohmann acted as scientific chair of the Coordination Centre for Clinical Trials at the medical faculty of the Heinrich-Heine-University, Düsseldorf. In 2014 C. Ohmann retired and is now working as consultant for ECRIN and as reviewer for research proposals. From the beginning, Prof. Ohmann was involved in the EU ECRIN initiative, representing the German KKS network and acting as chair of the network committee and independent certification board.
