Tariq Ghayur, Distinguished Research Fellow, AbbVie Bioresearch Center Inc

Tariq Ghayur received his Ph.D in Immunology from McGill University, Montreal, Canada and did his post-doctoral training at McGill and Dana Farber Cancer Institute. He joined AbbVie Inc. in 1990. Tariq has worked on both small molecule and therapeutic antibody discovery programs; led two therapeutic antibody discovery project teams and delivered 2 drug development candidates (DDC). Tariq led the dual variable domain Ig (DVD – Ig) Initiative team – that in collaboration with various functional groups contributed towards multiple DDCs. He established the DVD-Ig & Novel Biologics department at AbbVie that developed & implemented several HTP / automated processes to expedite mAb, DVD-Ig and other bi -/multi-specific biologics generation & selection timelines. From 2016 – 2018 Tariq served as the head of the Foundational Immunology Department and currently is leading teams of dedicated scientists focused on Specific Biology Areas such as, the immune synapse, intracellular trafficking, antigen processing & presentation and glyco-biology.
