Dr James Dale, CSO, Vaxent

James Dale holds the Gene H. Stollerman Professorship of Medicine and is Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. He is a co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Vaxent, LLC. Dr. Dale's research interests are in the areas of molecular mechanisms of bacterial pathogenesis, immune responses to infectious agents, and vaccine design and development. His laboratory defined protective epitopes of group A streptococcal M proteins and subsequently developed highly complex multivalent recombinant protein vaccines which have progressed through early-stage clinical trials. In addition, he has developed international collaborations to study the epidemiology and disease burden of streptococcal infections in populations at high risk for rheumatic fever and invasive disease.
