P.K. Mohankumar has been Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Roots Corporation Limited and drives the overall operations of Ginger Hotels across India.  Prior to taking on his current role, Mohankumar served as Chief Operating Officer of The Gateway Hotels & Resorts.  He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table after serving more than 39 years in the hotel industry.  With enriched acumen in management and leadership of the hospitality sphere, he has held key positions, including Area Director and General Manager of luxury, business and leisure hotels within Taj Group.

Mohankumar has been a Taj veteran in India’s Southern metros, where he played a pivotal role in the development of Taj West End and Taj Coromandel as the Area Director in both regions.  He was involved in the launches of all four Taj properties: Kumarakam, Thekkady, Varkala and Calicut that went on to dominate the market in Kerala.  He was also instrumental in the turnaround of Taj Samudra in Colombo and was involved in the development of Taj Exotica, Bentota.

With varied experience across national and international markets, Mohankumar’s portfolio ranges from greenfield launches, turnaround assignments and international postings in USA and South Asia to extensive training and exposure in luxury, upper upscale and mid-market hotels in Europe and the Far East.
