Mr Alfonso Samper | Former Chairman Virginia Retirement System
Al Samper is the immediate past Chairman of the Board of Trustee of the Virginia Retirement System and former Chairman of the Board of the Virginia College Building Authority. He also serves on the advisory board of the Mid-Atlantic Hedge Fund Association. Al was Director of Public Sector Marketing at Wachovia Securities. Before that he served as Assistant State Treasurer, Virginia Department of the Treasury. He earned his BS in economics from Virginia Tech in 1975 and his MBA in finance from Virginia Tech in 1978. He is a 1990 graduate of the Virginia Executive Institute, and the Wharton Pension Fund and Investment Management Institute.
