Mr. Tejerero’s drive for professional excellence, exemplary performance, and corporate overachievement began as a scholar in San Beda College Manila, one of the Philippines’ top-ranking universities, where he graduated as Class Valedictorian and Cum Laude, and earned the title as one of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines in 1993. Through his unwavering determination to succeed, Mr. Tejerero started his professional career as a Corporate Planner specializing in research for the consumer goods conglomerate, RFM Corporation. At the young age of 25, he was promoted to General Manager of RFM’s Baker Unit. In pursuance of corporate growth, Ed Tejerero continued his career in the Araneta Group of Companies as Vice President at the age of 28. Here, he was tasked to take the reins of business development, real estate, construction and maintenance of the famous Araneta Coliseum, the Araneta Malls, and the broad-spectrum operations of international food franchises such as Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and KFC.
With a reputation for judicious use of resources and armed with an inventive cognizance developed through years immersed in brand research, business development, and even in construction and maintenance, Edgar Tejerero was recruited by the SM Group of Companies as President of SM Lifestyle Entertainment, Inc. Mr. Tejerero’s work has been significantly instrumental in forming the company’s brands and businesses. Focused on strategic solutions to further business goals, Mr. Tejerero shepherded a company with cinema as its sole source of income into a corporation comprising of 13 major brands. Currently the SM Lifestyle Entertainment’s brands include: SM Cinema: the Philippines’ largest cinema and exhibition brand with over 60% market share, International Franchise IMAX, Director’s Club Cinema, WM Cinemas, Snack Time: SM Cinema’s food concession unit, SM Tickets, Exploreum: the latest science discovery center to open in the Philippines, SM Skating Rink: the only operating skating rink in the country, SM Bowling and Leisure Center, Mall of Asia Arena: the architectural ‘eye’con that houses local and international performances such as Aerosmith, J.Lo, Mariah Carey, Cirque Du Soleil, the 4D-XD, blink video-on-demand, and the Philippines’ most convenient form of cashless transaction, the e-PLUS Tap to Pay Card.
