His team develops and enables translational and clinical imaging strategies for early and late drug development programs.
After studying chemistry in Bonn and Berkeley, Heiko finished his dissertation in physical chemistry focusing on MR spectroscopic methods and diffusion imaging. During his postdoctoral research at the Department of Neurology, Magdeburg and the Leibniz-Institute for Neurobiology he established imaging and spectroscopy biomarkers for the neurodegenerative disorders. In 2006, Heiko joined Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma Research in Biberach, where he worked on preclinical and translational imaging applications in the field of cardio-metabolic diseases. In 2011, Heiko joined the newly established Department of Translational Medicine as a TransMed Expert and was appointed Teamleader Clinical Imaging. In addition to his position at Boehringer Ingelheim, Heiko lectures as an associate professor on imaging methods at the Ulm University Medical School.
