Gaynor is a freelance renewable energy consultant. Until August 2013, she was the Chief Executive of the Renewable Energy Association, a pan-technology trade body established in 2001. Gaynor played a catalytic role in its establishment, was its first staff member, and became Chief Executive in March 2010. Her involvement in the renewables industry began fifteen years prior to this, when she joined the British Wind Energy Association as Technical and Policy Analyst. Gaynor has had many years of experience representing the renewable energy industry in Whitehall, Westminster and in the media. Gaynor also chairs the oversight panel of the Green Gas Certification Scheme, a non-profit making, industry-governed certification scheme for tracking biomethane through the supply chain.
