George Demetriades, Director of Information Technology and Telecommunications Business Unit, Athens International Airport

George Demetriades is a seasoned Technology strategist with proven hands on experience in transforming organizations in Europe and the Middle East and assisting them to achieve their business goals through technology.
Currently running the Technology Business Unit for Athens International Airport, leading all efforts to improve customer experience through implementation of digital solutions such as biometrics, self-service kiosks, self-boarding gates and automated passport control gates. Prior to Aviation, George was working in Banking for 22 years, designing & implementing platforms and procedures that drove efficient omnichannel operations and delivered uniform customer service.
Analytical in his thinking and focused into aligning technology strategy with business objectives has delivered significant technology related project programmes in different geographical regions, always in scope and in budget.
Borne in 1964, has concluded his postgraduate studies in the UK and he speaks Greek, English, French and Romanian
