As the Manager, Innovation at the UK Civil Aviation Authority, Emma holds responsibility for the development of regulatory frameworks in areas of emerging aviation technology. Current focus areas include UAVs, Cyber and Spaceflight. Emma is an aviation professional of 20 years’ experience with a core background in Air Traffic Control, Airspace Management and Aviation Safety. Emma’s operational air traffic experience spans both radar and aerodrome high-intensity commercial traffic environments including the major London airports, however, her airspace knowledge spans the breadth of the UK and beyond.
Emma has a degree in Mathematics, Statistics and Operational Research and has recently been awarded an MSc (Distinction) in Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management from the University of Leicester. She has chaired various national aviation stakeholder groups with subjects ranging from military/civil interaction to the integration of spaceplanes within UK airspace and has a keen interest in airspace solutions to enable innovation.
