Judging the World Vendor Awards

The World Vendor Awards will be judged by industry experts, giving a fair impartial opinion to determine who the winners are. All categories will be awarded purely on the basis of the submission from the entrant or nominee.

“Best Brand” and The “CEO of the Year” categories will be decided on by an industry survey. No entry is required. The shortlist is determined by the judges and editorial team at Total Telecom.

The Judging Process
 

Entry deadline: 30 November 2011

All nominations for each of the 16 categories will be reviewed by the judging panel. The judges will select a shortlist for each category; all winners will be announced at the Awards Dinner on 26th April 2012 and presented with an award from The World Vendor Awards, produced by Total Telecom.
 
 

Meet the judges 

Antonio Coronado
Partner and Director
Telemark Services
 

Telemark are a leading consultancy firm which specializes in the ICT market. Antonio has worked with Telemark UK for over ten years focusing on setting up and managing customer and employee satisfaction analysis as well as providing strategic support for a range of multinational clients. Antonio has successfully developed the Telemark OCEAN reports which benchmarks CSAT for top ICT providers worldwide, and more recently PeerPreference.com, helping customers to find the best-fit international data network provider for their particular needs. He holds a Bachelor Engineering Degree in IT from Alicante University, as well as an MBA from Manchester Business School.



Tim Devine

Tim Devine has worked in the mobile telecommunications business for over 15 years, and leads PA's business in both 2nd and 3rd generation mobile.
Tim's work for PA has focused on international business development, business and marketing strategies and new venture implementation in the mobile telecommunications industry - both mobile operators and network equipment suppliers and financial institutions. Prior to working for PA, he had responsibility for the European marketing for Nortel's mobile infrastructure division.


Matthew Finnie
Chief Technology 
Interoute 

Matthew Finnie drives the company's advanced services strategy, including developing the platform that has allowed the company to launch its industry-leading VOIP, Ethernet and Media products. Trained as an electrical engineer, he helped develop early IP-product innovations, including one of the first commercial applications of VOIP a decade ago. As head of the Enterprise Service Development Group at Vocaltec, he worked with European/US carriers and multi-national corporations to launch converged communication services. Matthew was also the co-founder of US-based Internet start-up Insitu, which developed real-time IP collaboration tools.


 

Kenny Fraser

Kenny is a Partner in our UK Consulting Practice and a member of PwC’s Global Communications Industry team. He has been consulting to clients in the Telecoms and Technology industries  for more than 15 years and has experience of complex change projects in customer operations, finance and IT. His main area of expertise is customer and revenue operations. Kenny has worked with clients supporting traditional voice and data processes and systems, and also complex enterprise services and solutions. More recently he has been advising clients on their response to rapid new developments in data, content and apps which are driving change in the mobile industry. He has authored several articles and thought leadership publications including “Embracing New Revenue Streams: Living in an Apps Driven World” in 2011.


Frederic Gielec

Frederic's mission is to drive the marketing programs supporting Orange Business Services' main solutions delivered internationally: network, voice, mobility, contact centres, IT services and unified communications & collaboration. His responsibility encompasses the management of marketing plans as well as the development of a value selling approach specific to each of these domains. Prior to this position Frederic had various marcom and corporate communication jobs within Orange and the France Telecom Group, including Equant, Global One, Transpac and France Telecom Mobile. Graduate with a PhD in Communication from the Sorbonne University, Frederic started his professional career in 1989 with Fleishmann Hillard, a US PR firm, where he was supporting customers from the Telecom industry, such as AT&T Paradyne and Bell Atlantic.

 
Alan Hadden

Alan Hadden has 23 years' experience in the mobile communications industry, and has been President of the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) since its formation in 1998. GSA represents leading GSM/EDGE/WCDMA-HSPA/LTE suppliers, providing trusted, widely referenced reports, facts, analysis and information explaining market developments and trends. Briefings are given to media, analysts and policy makers. In addition, Alan regularly hosts GSA-organized seminars and other events to facilitate enhanced dialog between operators, member companies, and developer communities.



Matt Hatton

Matt Hatton is a widely respected wireless industry expert with 14 years' experience at the cutting edge of telecoms research. His current role is as Director at Machina Research, a specialist research and consultancy firm focusing on the M2M, IoT and mobile broadband markets. Prior to establishing Machina Research, Matt was Program Manager at Yankee Group focusing on the mobile services market in EMEA and most recently at Analysys Mason he was Research Director managing all research on the telco services market, with a particular focus on mobile broadband and other new emerging services and business models.



Mary Lennighan

Mary manages Total Telecom's editorial portfolio, including its flagship daily online news site, monthly publication Total Telecom+, and various special reports. She has been with Total Telecom since 2003 and has more than 10 years' experience in the telecoms space, having previously spent three years at CIT Publications, a company that now forms part of TeleGeography. She began her career at Reuters.


 

Camille Mendler

Camille Mendler advises vendors and service providers on top-line growth opportunities at the intersection of telecom and communications-intensive industries. She identifies and validates sales engagement models, focusing in particular on the monetisation of cloud computing, Ethernet, mobility and M2M technologies in verticalised contexts.

 

Isabelle Paradis

Isabelle is the President of HOT TELECOM, a leading telecommunications research company providing premier quality data, reports and services to the International telecom community. She has 17 years experience in the international telecom industry working across all 6 continents with multiple Tier 1 and Blue chip companies. Isabelle’s previous experience includes regional management roles for Teleglobe, delivery of consulting projects in emerging markets and Senior Interim management roles in Asia-Pacific. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and an MBA in Finance from the HEC of Montreal.


 

Mike Pearson

Mike Pearson is a Partner at Analysys Mason who specialises in the delivery of technically oriented advisory services to the telecommunications market. Mike has extensive knowledge and experience of fixed and mobile telecommunications businesses and associated legacy and next generation network technologies. He has over 23 years technical and management experience in a diverse range of technology driven industrial segments, fifteen years of which have been spent in the telecoms industry.



Rob Staples

Rob Staples is the Partner responsible for BearingPoint’s UK Telco practice. In this role he is building upon BearingPoint’s global assets and telecoms and media experience to support UK based clients in the sector. Rob is a communications industry specialist with functional expertise in strategy and marketing. He has more than 20 years operational and consulting experience in the sector, gained in Europe, Asia, Latin America, the United States and the Middle East.  He has extensive experience working with CEO’s and board level clients in the telecommunications and media industries to help shape their strategic agendas.

Laurent is a partner at A.T Kearney' global Communications & High Tech Practice, based in London. Laurent specializes in telecoms, media and high tech sectors, where he has supported some of the leading global players across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. He specializes in helping industry leaders in driving their strategic transformation - including identifying game changing commercial innovations, improving the effectiveness  of their organization and achieving cost efficiencies. Laurent has over fourteen years of consulting experience. Prior to joining A.T Kearney, Laurent worked for Booz & Co and Cs First Boston. He holds an MBA from ESCP, the Paris Graduate School of Management.


 

George Williamson

George Williamson is currently the Director, Strategic Network Design, Openreach and is responsible for developing Openreach’s future network plan and is actively involved in Openreach’s NGA programme. He is also a former member of the Management Board of BT Scotland. He has undertaken a wide range of engineering & management roles since joining BT in 1980 to work on development of the System X Digital Local Exchange. In the 1990s he was Chief Engineer for BT's Ipswich Systems Engineering Centre and took key roles the delivery of BT's IN and Network Management Platforms. More recently he took on the role of General Manager for BT Exact’s Network Management Department. Immediately prior to joining Openreach he undertook a number of roles in mobilizing BT’s 21CN Systems Programme. He has a BSc. from Edinburgh University and a Ph.D. from the University of Manchester, he is a Fellow of the IET and a Chartered Engineer.



Nick Wood

Nick works alongside Mary Lennighan on Total Telecom's daily news site and digital magazine Total Telecom+. He began his career in telecoms when he joined the company as a junior reporter in 2007. He quickly established himself as a valued contributor to both the online and print editions of Total Telecom, and was appointed assistant editor in 2010. Before joining Total Telecom, Nick graduated from the University of Westminster with a first class honours degree in journalism.
