Rajesh Goel, CEO West Africa, Arcelor Mittal

Rajesh Goel is a Mining Engineer with about 40 years of experience in Mining Industry. He graduated with Honours from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India, in 1972. He worked for about 30 years in India with TISCO, NMDC and SAIL in different iron ore mines. He was also associated with the Modernisation of Bokaro Steel Plant during the 1990s. During his 30 years of working in India he made significant contribution in improving the efficiency of mining operations. He has been a believer of binging in continuous improvements through small changes on the shop floor. He joined ArcelorMittal (earstwhile Mittal Steel) in 2002 and has worked as Chief operating Officer of the companies iron ore mines in Kazakhstan. Presently he is CEO (Mining), West Africa and oversees Liberia operations and projects in Senegal and Mauritania. He and his team are credited with completing Phase 1 of Liberia Project, involving setting up of mining facilities, renovation of railway, port and social infrastructure, ahead of schedule.
