Since November 2008 Michael Ewers is Managing Director/CEO of betapharm Arzneimittel GmbH in Augsburg, which is a subsidiary of the international pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, headquartered in Hyderabad, India. Ewers started his professional career in the pharmaceutical industry in 1986 at Merz+Co. as a junior product manager. After working at Bristol Myers and J&J Cilag in marketing, he worked from 1995 to 2003 for ICN Pharm, where he was most recently in the position of Vice President and General Manager, Germany. In 2004 Michael Ewers joined IVAX Pharmaceuticals as Vice President Central Europe. After the acquisition of Ivax by Teva he was responsible for the merger of Teva and Ivax in Germany. From 2006 to 2008 Ewers was CEO of the German subsidiary of Teva - the world's largest manufacturer of generics. Michael Ewers was born in 1960, is married and has three children. He has a degree in Business Administration and has studied at the University of Muenster.
