George McCormick | Vice President : Head NCS Small Molecules Teva Pharmaceuticals
Dr. McCormick is the Vice President of Drug Safety & Disposition with Cephalon, Inc., West Chester, PA and has administrative responsibility for the overall operations of nonclinical toxicology, nonclinical and clinical pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism and bioanalysis within the Division of Drug Development. He received his B.S. (Pharmacy), M.S. (Environmental Toxicology), and Ph.D. (Toxicology) degrees from Temple University and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology. Prior to joining Cephalon, Inc. in 1994, Dr. McCormick has held various supervisory and scientific positions, primarily in the area of Drug Safety, with Genentech, Inc.; Ciba-Geigy Corporation; Schering-Plough Research Institute; and, Vick Divisions R & D.
He is a member of a number of professional societies and has published in the areas of nonclinical toxicology/safety assessment and clinical pharmacokinetics. Dr. McCormick is also a former President and a life-long member of the Temple University School of Pharmacy Alumni Board. Presently, Dr. McCormick is on the Board of Directors for both The International Consortium for Innovation and Quality in Pharmaceutical Development and The Drug Safety Executive Council. His primary interests are directed toward risk assessment, elucidation of mechanisms of toxicity, systems toxicology and identification of concepts to potentially enhance predictability of safety via the use of cell-based assays or animal models.
