James Hall’s early career was as a Police Inspector with the Royal Hong Kong Police Force and this was followed by administrative positions with British Petroleum, both in New Zealand and Australia. He then spent time in Papua New Guinea with Rio Tinto’s Bougainville Copper Mine as a Financial Analyst and Contract Administrator.
Subsequently James joined Inchcape PLC in various management roles in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and Australia. He spent a number of years with the South Australian Government spearheading its Trade & Investment linkages with Asia and headed up the Hong Kong Tourism Board as Regional Director for Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.
More recently James was General Manager of the Broken Hill City Council for a 3 year period and this was followed as being Executive Manager Trams, for TransAdelaide for a further 3 years.
He took up his current role as General Manager of Brisbane Ferries in June, 2009.
James’ academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science/History), Graduate Diploma of Management and a Master of Business Administration. He is also a qualified Chartered Secretary.
