Nieves is Chief Executive of IRT Group. IRT Group is Australia's largest community based, not for profit organisation providing care and housing for 7000 seniors throughout Sydney, the Australian Capital Territory and South Coast of NSW. IRT Group also funds research into issues of ageing and conducts social enterprise activities that support the Company's mission. Nieves has worked in aged care since 1985. Before joining IRT in 1992 she held positions in area health, local government and the commercial sector. Nieves is a psychologist and holds a Master of Science (Community Health), a Graduate Diploma (Health Policy & Management) and a Master of Business Administration.
